Default New Shotgun

I bought myself a new shotgun for home defense a while back and I really like it. It is a new tactical Remington 870 with an 18" barrel with the fold down stock with pistol grips. It is one awsome looking shotgun.
My son and I shot it a few times the other day and it patterns really well. I bought me some 00 buckshot and #4 buckshot to keep it fed with alternately. We kind of live to ourselves out in the country, so this makes me feel a little more secure at night.

Great choice! I think the shotty at home and the handgun on the street is the way to go.

I have a great respect for the shotgun as an effective fighting tool.
Know what yours can do, and what it cannot do, practice with it often and know that if you ever have to engage, the odds are pretty good you will not come out in second place.

A Shotgun is a great gun for Home Defense....I love my Shotguns ( I have 3 ) they are my babies at home, but the minute my pants hit my crouch I have a holster on my hip and heat under my shirt......If I could take my shotgun with me, now that would be fun.....
You can never go wrong with a Remy Shotgun, they are great....stay on it and practice, your body will only respond at 50% of your best training day....so train hard and don't get comfortable just cause you have a gun........

This requires a NFA tax stamp, but it transfers as an AOW, so the stamp is only $5.00. I don't know your law there, but I know it's the closest we can get to a "sawed-off shotgun" legally in Indiana. (This is not technically that for a couple of reasons, but that's another thread.)

Blessings,
B

I've got a bunch of single shot H&R break action shotguns (can anyone just walk by a 16ga for $50 and not buy it?) at home. I've found that if you cut a bicycle inner tube about 2" thick, you can slide that over the barrel, and keep it there by holding 2 shells under the barrel and ready for use. It gives a use for those guns that are collecting dust.

I took my Mossberg 930 SPX out to the range last week. I set up paper plates on each side of a revetment. Then I practiced running down the center of the revetment, shooting the plates on either side. The revetment was more than 30 feet wide, so I was shooting the plates from between 15 and 20 feet as I ran. Great fun, and challanging too. It's hard to get the butt seated properly on the shoulder while running, so I have a colorful bruise to show for my efforts. That semi-auto 12 gauge is so much fun!

I have a Remmy 870 Wingmaster that shoulders like buttah, and my Mossy 590 which doesn't shoulder as nicely, but is still a hoot to shoot! Best part is outshooting guys with gold inlaid over/under Bennelli's. I know they spent well over $2500 for those guns, but I outscore'em everytime with my $250 Mossberg. I still haven't put 00 BS thru her yet. I guess I should to get an idea of how it's gonna react.
